Coke opens up green bottle plant
Coke is turning green but not in the colour f the drink but rather in how they produce their packaging, such as the classic coke bottle.
To this end, the company have built a new $60 million bottling plant, where old bottles can be recycled into new ones, which is the sensible way to go especially when it comes to plastics.
There is so much that can be done with polyethylene terephthalate, or PET, as this occurs in many products mainly involved in the processed food industry. Yet PET’s can easily be recycled as this plant shows.
The new plant will be capable of producing around a hundred million pounds of recycled PET chips, which is enough to produce around two billion plastic bottles.
