Burial at sea is eco friendly
Could burials at sea be the new eco friendly way of laying our loved ones to rest? Well it would seem so in the US as one business, which arranges this type of burial, use the cremated remains to produce artificial reefs of the east coast of the USA.
Therefore, the burial still uses cremation, which is not really eco friendly because of the gas used.
However, the ashes are mixed with a concrete type substance to produce what are known as reef balls. These balls are then placed in the sea and eventually will become the home for many species of sea life.
The cost of this type of burial is around £1,500 and £3,000, so it is not cheap but when compared with the alternatives then maybe this could catch on. As it would always be a living memorial of a loved one.
