Games hit high sales targets

The threat of the credit crunch does not appeared to hit the games market, as the in the UK the first quarter of the year has seen manic buying of games in records that have been compiled by the Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association (ELSPA) and compiled by Chart-Track.

In the first quarter of the year, gamers spent a massive £418.4 million, which is a huge amount of money for the sector. The most popular platform is Nintendo with their Wii and the DS platforms; these had the top two places, with PC coming in third and the Microsoft Xbox 360 coming in at a low fourth place.

The top game for just happens to be Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, and they say that major sporting events do not have much to do on what consumers buy!
