Leisure centre to help child obesity
A leisure centre in Hampshire has been given a £47,000 grant from the Big Lottery to help with their plans to offer a free course to overweight kids.
According to the government if things carry on the way that they are going, by 2020 a third of girls and a fifth of boys will be classed as obese, this would put their health in later life at risk, so therefore any plans to help put a stop this has to be a good thing.
The River Park Leisure Centre, Winchester has set up such a programme, it is called MEND which stands for Mind, Exercise, Nutrition and Do It, this will help families of overweight children with advice on food and exercise.
The course is free of charge and will consist of eighteen sessions over a ten week period; the course will be fun and will encourage both parents and children to work together on this issue.
